Ski Press Strength

Post by skimann20 »

Hey Gang,
I went over to skidesmond house to check out his press and other setups. Thanks Steve! After watching this forum for over three years, I think I'm ready to take the leap into ski building bliss.
I brought my father-in-law with me (jack of all trades) and he had a great suggestion on how to stiffen up wood ski presses. One of his many trades was building garages and to stiffen up the header of the garage doors was to sandwich Tin in between the boards. This increases the torsion strength of the boards and not allow the header to sag. I know someone is doing this with skis with aluminum. This should help with press deflection. Thought I'd pass this idea on to the group. Cheers.
