Richie, did you get a video done of the Skype session?
I have a small CNC that I'm just going to use for drag knifing logos and stuff into bases. It's wide enough but not long enough for a core so later down the track I'm going to buy a new 2000mm long ball screw and make the X Axis long enough to machine cores.
I have Mach 3 but tried downloading monkeyCam for windows and I get just error messages.
The links aren't straight forward to me. How many folders do I need to download to start from scratch with MonkeyCam? I already have SnoCad-X.

At the moment I'm just writing all my own G-code programs myself but cheap (or even free) CadCam is obviously appealing.

To the guy who was trying to work out how to change x and y axis, you could always try pattern rotation G code. Fanuc machines and Mach 3 use G68 I think and Fagor machines use G73.
Big machines with Fagor controls were always my favorite, no conversational control, pure g code writing but fast and super powerful.

How about you be the guinea pig and we record doing a demo for you?

Once you see it used you'll be up and running its a big timesaver.

Sounds like you have some great cnc knowledge to really kickstart your board building which is great I'm sure it will advance your progress a lot.

Just for now treat SnoCAD-X and MonkeyCAM as seperate but the intent is to integrate them as far as SnoCAD-X outputing to MonkeyCAM so we have a nice easy gui front end and a clever CAM generating back end.

Maybe an hour this coming weekend in the evening? You're in Perth?

Hey guys,

Sorry to derail this thread but I can download SnoCad-x but I haven't been able to install it. IWhen I click the Jar file it goes nowhere. What am I not doing right?

Hi, what platform are you running on? Windows or Mac or Linux? If you have time I'm happy to jump on a screen sharing session and help out.

I trust you have the right Java JRE installed, I'm pretty sure the latest should work......

I thought for a while I had a certificate issue but after reading your reply I updated Java and now things are working fine again.

Many thanks to RegMeasures (not sure of his alias here) for adding partial wrap edge support to MonkeyCAM. It's great to have another contributor.

It's been a while since I've posted about MonkeyCAM. Development has continued a bit slowly ;)

MonkeyCAM is now available at https://www.monkeycam.org as an online tool. You no longer have to download binaries and figure out how to use the command line. The latest version will always run for you in the cloud, for free.

I've designed the site and backend services to fit within Google's Free Tier pricing for their servers. So no ads.

It's still hard to use. Input is still in the form of JSON specifying the board design, bindings, and machine/material parameters. It will get easier over time though as I add better input and output.

We're up to v4.0.6 now, the major additions being:

1) Support for flat nose and tail sections, making it easier to form ski shapes.
2) New binding configuration, allowing for any binding pattern you wish, including ski bindings.
