Post by RYM Experimentals »

Sharing this video of Wenatchee High School students documentary on building their own skis for a shop project. Pretty cool!

Excellent, So much more interesting for the kids than a book case, or a watch display box or something.

I sent them an email congratulating them on their efforts and invited them to join the forum so don't be surprised if you see them up here.

Wow, that was VERY cool!!!

When I first started into making my first pair of skis (I was in my first year at college), I got in touch with an engineer at K2, who invited me out for a tour (they were still on Vashon at the time). I got a similar experience, with a tour of the factory, and they even gave me a roll of p-tex and enough edges for a couple of pairs of skis. It's awesome to have a company open and willing (especially a local one for us PNWers!) to do that kind of thing for the young'ins!

The layup was pretty cute, with they're full-body lab coats, and sooooo gently brushing on the epoxy. Reminds me a lot of my first few pairs. :) Now I just slap everything on in a rush.

I had a chuckle at Jay Inslee helping out too, ha!
