Shaping the core prior to pressing
Does anyone see and advantage or disadvantage to shaping the wood core using a steam press before pressing the rest of the ski materials together?

It depends on how you want to do your layup, and how good you are at keeping parts aligned like said above.
If you dont want to prebend, do flat layup on some steel sheets or a cassette.
If you prebend, get a bent "cassette", or layup right in your mold.
Prebending cores wont give them any camber, it only really bends the tips some.
