change camber mold to tip and tail rocker

Post by rsotak »

Was thinking about adding a little rocker to my skis, but I don't want to have to cut a new mold. Was thinking I could use some MDF board spacers to create the rocker by placing them under my metal casette. Any thoughts? Wil this leave a sharp corner if not profiled perfectly?

That's what I feared. Looks like camber skis for this year and new ones next. Thanks for the feedback

You can always create a new profile on the molds you currently have if you dobt care about losing the current design

I cut through my mould from the bottom half way up. About 200mm back from the end of the running length
I then cut some .7mm aluminium sheets same width as the mould and in increasing lengths, shimming up to 7mm,
ie 70mm, 140mm 210mm 280mm etc
Placed this under the mould.
Pressure comes on forcing the majority of the mould down to flat but keeping the front up due to shims.
Result was about half the rocker of the shim. 3.5mm
Mould still in 1 piece and can still be used as full camber as well.
Hope this makes sense.

If i could work out how to attach a file i would do a drawing.

I use a flat mold and then shim for the ski design I am looking for. NO problems for me...
Just finished a pair. Here is the tip rocker.
