Carbon ski

Post by gketcham »

I'll be honest. I haven't been on the forum for a long time and I didn't research the heck out of this before I posted it so nobody will probably answer.

Do any ski manufacturers or anybody here make skis/cores out of layers of carbon or is their always a core in the middle? How many layers would/ does it take to lay up a carbon core and profile it just like a wood core. How stiff does something like this end up being? This is just another question in my long search to see how much of the professional ski industry is made of bull crap and what is actually innovative. Thanks in advance.

Different ways:

Very thin, but flex like a board ... see Montuckies comment

Thick enough but flex like a piece of steel
