UD Carbon strings on a carrier foil

Hey folks,

maybe one of you can help me out. I am sourcing for UD carbon strings which are applied on some kind of carrier foil.
I have seen that the guys from Skevik skis use them. At least they did when they started their business. I don't know whether they still do.

Does anybody know where they get that material from? I have asked them by mail but I don't get an answer :-(

Maybe one of you knows the store where to buy them...

Thanks.

This stuff is often called "fused carbon". Here is an Australian shop (with reasonable worldwide shipping on smaller items) that carries a variety of tapes: https://shapers.com.au/non-woven-tapes/ ... ing&page=1

concerning UD carbon reinforcements, what are you putting into boards and skis in general?

For my last board, I purchased 300gm carbon band, 5cm wide that I wanted to put in as V in the tip and tail areas. During lay up, I realized that since the carbon was quite thick, it would probably leave ugly marks through the nylon top sheet, so I didn't use it.

Can somebody give a good advice on what's a good weight to put into boards for V shaped reinforcements?

Thanks!

I inherited a box of unidirectional carbon tape a while back and the label on the box is as follows:

Georgian Bay Reinforcement Fabrics
ANC-CU-080-045 Uni-Directional Carbon Tape

It is a Canadian Company
http://georgianbayfabrics.com/
I looked around on the site but it was not very user friendly. I typed in the part number and got no results.
I guess it would be best to email them. They are the manufacturer so I would imagine that they have distributors.
The roll had two rows of 5 strips on a very thin vail. We cut in half and put each side on each ski. I guess the roll was purchased
with two strips so you could cut it and use it on a pair of skis. Each strip is about 1/4 inch wide.

I have found this product really nice to work with. The 2.9 oz weight is super thin and you can cut any width or shapes you like for targeted reinforcement

the 4.1 oz uni from Soller composites is also a great product, super thin and easy to work with.

The carbon strips oriented with spaces between them is likely a surfboard product to be visually interesting. The US supplier for most of this and other web fused fabrics is Graphite Master in S. California

hope that helps
