steam box might be the way to go. Our do a laminate layup like a stair railing and clamp with glue in your mold.

awsome, get back to the roots! seems like a fun experiment keep working with it. Looks like it could be great method for prebending cores?

just great!
water alone is not sufficient. you need hot, boiling water or steam to bend the skis....the cold water won`t penetrate the wood as deep as steam does...

Add some vinegar...to the water. It penetrates better...I've heard. :)
My colleague's(the chemists) told me so.

LIGHTING BOARDS

Post by voodoo »

CHECK OUT LIGHTNING BOARDS THIS GUY DOES PROGRESSIVE SIDECUTS OUT OF ASH.

USES A STEAMBOX. I think it is the way to go. Need to make sure that you use a bendable wood. Some wood species aren't good to use.

The key is to steam the skis without letting them get too wet(keep the condensation from dripping onto the wood(they warp as they dry if they get too wet). You must steam them for about 1hour then put them in the camber jig that you show, slowly bending the tip and tail bends( I built a two piece jig so I can bend the tails easier. Allow to slowly air dry in a room temp./normal humidity place for 18-24hr.
