These are mine plywood skis, built using 4mm thick, 3-ply birch plywood.

I made 4 or 5 pairs like that, before switching to vertical laminated woodcore, which I bought already tapered.

Plywood skis are good, no particular problem using them.

I'm still curious about the three holes drilled thru the lot? Is it the base? Black on one side and green on the other?...
I've watch his video "a to z"
At 4:17 it happens..

I believe that they are for alignment of the layers in lay-up. Others have suggested a dowel system to do the same.

It's interesting to see that dynastar uses a similar band-saw core shaper, just automated and vertically oriented. (about 30 seconds in)

Just send Michael an email if you want more info. He's really nice and super helpful, with a lot of building knowledge.

Yes I can see they are for alignment but thru the whole lay up? I've emailed Michael, but he is busy building skis for the moment. I will wait and see...still curious.. :)

Maybe it's a 24h rule or something.

Alignment is my biggest problem right now and if someone have any good solution...

Ok, now I can see that the alignment pins/plugs go thru both the base and core...hmm
I guess I go for a try. I have tried all the other methods...i think

Alignment can easily be solved with the dowel glued to the base method. Drill holes in the core, align core over base, glue dowels, allow dry and then ready for layup. Make sure your base is symmetrical and leave a little extra on the sidewall for 2-3mm core shift if it happens.
done and done

Totally agree with Montucky. This is exactly what we have been doing on the last 4 pairs of skis.

Not sure if this is the same 333 skis, but check out his chainsaw core profiler!
