A new press is born

looks like epoxy on the base to me...
What pressure do you press at ? What temperature ? are you sure you have an even pressure on all the board ? I would guess you have less pressure in the tip, thus allowing resin to flow under the base. But those are only my thoughts after seeing just a picture...

A bad day skiing is always better than a good one at work...
Its definitely melted the base. It shrank, pulled away from the edges and delaminated. The problem arose when I put the cassette in my press. When I plugged in the heat blanket sparks flew because the wires in the back of the controller loosened. I was in a panic to get the blanket up and running. I got the wires fixed but the thermocouple wasn’t registering. Since the thermo coupler wasn’t working I don’t know how hot it got. They are only rated for 200 degrees F but it had to get hotter than that. Its fricken frusterating. Every board seems to have a new problem but I am working through them.
My first heat blanket had a short in the blanket the first time I used it. Hi heat is currently building me a new one for free. The second one seems to be ok after todays events. I need to rework the wiring because the controller they put on is very flimsy. Thanks for the encouragement! I have 4 mistake boards under my belt. Hopefully, No more.
