Edge-stepping for the core
I have seen that quite a few people router a step into the bottom side of your core to fit nicely with the edge. I like the idea of this ensuring alignment during press. What do you use for a bit to do this? this must have a guide bearing to keep the step's width consistent?
You are looking for a rabbeting bit. They usually come as a set.
here is a nice set.

Mattman,
Here is a company that you can order over the phone, or net. I buy my router bits from them because the have a large selection in stock and I can also have them make anything I can dream up... Plus they are local to me so I can just drive in.

Also if you get a set with different size bearings it will create the step like on Burton, Palmer or Madd snowboards... Its the only reference I have.
