Anyone driving anything different to the norm?
I have a VW caravelle TDI (Eurovan in NA) running a twin tank veg oil conversion (Grease car in NA)
I'm going to teach myself how to make biodeisel so I don't have to buy pump diesel for starting and stopping.
I'm luck here in Chamonix - quite a few restaurants are happy to give me their used oil - gives you a good insight into which ones NOT to eat in
Anyone run an alternative fuel/energy vehicle

Yes any diesel will do - the more complex (new) your engine, the more sophisticated (precise) the system has to be.OAC wrote:Maybe this will be my next project? Sounds interesting. Will any Diesel engine do?
Cold veg oil in a common rail diesel at -5C will do a lot of expensive damage quickly.
Yes but it is only available by voice or sms not interwebOAC wrote: @Idris: do you have the list of restaurants? :-)
I shared a flat one season with a friend with a diesel ute than ran on vegetable oil. We used to ski down from the mid mountain restaurant with 10L tins of oil in each hand!
