I need help quickly updated: which pair of these boots?

Post by zachjowi »

I am going to be a ski instructor, but I need to get my own skis/boots to use. I have a nice set of bindings that are Salomon S912 Ti that i am going to use. I am about 165lbs and 5' 10". I have been skiing for about 5-6 years. One of the instructors told me to get medium flex and 158cm or 168cm( i don't remeber). Shoe size is about 12-12.5US

any websites or skis/ boots that would be good for me?
I need to get skis and boots by Saturday or Sunday

thank you very much

Umm... Ok...

I've had good luck finding decent deals on EvoGear's Outlet. But not as good as used stuff in a ski town.

What's your budget?

And you should measure your foot in centimeters to get an idea of your mondopoint size, I'm guessing 29.0 - 30.5 . Put your heel up against a wall and measure the length. And is your foot narrow, average, wide?

These might fit.

Action Sports also has some good deals.

You might not like these cause they're long and stiff, but they're cheap at $75. I have a pair of the racestock version of these and they're a lot of fun. And man do they truck.

Both these companies are legit, but there's no way you're gonna get stuff by this weekend.

And there's allways ebay.

Somebody else help out here, I don't want to steer the kid wrong.

The UW (Wisconsin) Hoofers resale was last weekend and they had a ton of brand new stuff from last year for dirt cheap. Contact the Hoofers office to find out what stores brought stuff in to sell and then get in contact with them. There are plenty of ski shops around south central Wisconsin that have overstock stuff from last year, or even demo skis in great shape at low prices.

To contact the hoofers office look up their info at http://www.hoofers.org/sns/

what one of these ski boots should I get?

Langes
http://www.rei.com/online/store/Product ... rn=4501594

Atomics

I will prob be getting these skis

I was told the Langes are better becuase they have a rubber sole inside to absorb shock and that the velcro strap on them is there for calf/leg type supprot. However on the other hand the Atomics will cost me $50.00 less and they have a tracking device/ plus a heating set of wires built in.

Get the boot that fits. And well, if you're ordering them that's kinda hard. But those Atomics are for a very wide foot. I have a pair that are a few years older ad they were one of the few boots that fit my wide foot reasonably well. And I can't wear Lange's.

The Atomic are decent skis, but... make sure they're "flat", ie no plate or binding system so you can use your Salomons.

Good luck.

Oh, I don't know if you'd actually feel any difference with the rubber on the Langes. And the Recco thing on the Atomics, isn't for tracking. It's for avy "safety" and IMO only good for body recovery.
