UK Core material suppliers

Post by PB »

Has anybody had any experience of sourcing hardwood for cores in the UK ? I've tried a heap of places locally but keep getting outrageous quotes (>£100, just for unfinished planks). Just after a bit of either Maple or Ash to start with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm quickly running out of ideas (and cash!).

You can buy (machined) woodores from Hess at 25/40 euros per pair. Ask me if you are interested.

I'm in Aldershot at the minute.

I've now sourced some but I'll check out Hess and see what they have too.

I was just looking for plain old Fir and couldn't find any let alone the Aspen I would have liked. Most places in the uk either have plain old Pine or SPF which could ce spruce, pine or fir but they don't know. And I don't know how to tell by just looking at it. :(. I am based in North Wales and Chamonix France
