Once pressed I will machine a slot into the aluminium plate and then with a slot cutter I will cut the shoulder so the T nut can pull up against the aluminium plate. I will do this on my milling machine.
I thought about routing a trench in the urethane before lay up but it would just fill up with epoxy

Burton's channels are premade and just fit into the CNC'd core. I forget how the seal them. Maybe just a peel ply layer over the channel

How are you prepping the aluminum for bonding and what grade and thickness Alu?

Great project! Have a look at this site to see the Burton ICS channels in detail: http://www.johncarolin.com/2011/05/malo ... -hardware/

Its 1.6mm 6061. I will scuff it up with a 60 grit flap disc

I could I guess. I didnt think of it to be honest, its pretty flexible stuff so Im sure it will move with the core and not want to delam.

Looks like a fun shape! Is that carbon woven into the fiberglass or a separate tape?

I wish I had glass with carbon woven in ;-)
This is just carbon tape on top of the fibreglass, I use it on all my boards.

Looks great.
Did you lay the carbon on wet and get it that straight? Impressive if you did.
It looks cool with the transparent areas between each strand of carbon. Did you buy the carbon locally.
I have been using http://www.carbonfiber.com.au/prod42.htm but the uni tape has all the strands right next to each other. The stuff you have is better to look at if you have a clear/no topsheet.

Did you cover the aluminium sheet with polyurethane or was that the other side of the core?
Don't wait up, I'm off to kill Summer....
