Warer pump as vacuum pump?

Post by wapiti »

Hey,

I have acces to some cheap water pumps (used to drain flooded cellars and stuff)

Do you guys think it could function as a vacuum pump? (in combination with a quick connection)

The only info on the pump I have is it's a 250W pump that can pump 4000l/h (with a max height difference of 6m)

your thoughts?

I very much doubt it!!
Running it dry could possibly damage the pump mechanism...
And even though it can create a vacuum using air to suck water up an empty pipe I don't think it could work as a vacuum pump.

Running a water phmp dry will definitely burn it out and quick too.
