Hi pmg. My parents live in Andelsbuch. I visit them very often in the winter time.

Hi, I live in Sonthofen. Maybe we can have a skibuilder gettogether sometime if you like, e.g. in Balderschwang

New GS Skis

Post by Jonsn »

My last season's GS build was too soft I gave it another try this year.

I designed a core thickness profile taking measurements on my sister's and her boyfriend's GS skis. I interpolated the profile to my length, adjusted for base, topsheet,.. and loaded the profile into Fusion360 by the ImportSplineCSV funticon to cut it on a ShopBot.

As a core a used vertically laminated beech plywood. I found it at Obi and it comes as 2 m x 0.3 m boards with a thicknes of 18 mm. I used it at it was without sidewalls because I am short on skibuilding time right now.

I spray painted the blue letters on the backside of the topsheet and used white resin for the layup.

I havn't tested the skis yet. Flex is nice and hard

I like the look of that vertically laminated beach. I saw that at Hagebau too. Didn't think of using it as a ski core. Anyone else have experience with it?
And the skis look pretty awesome too!

I'd be in for a meetup. Has to wait a couple of weeks though as I have just started building 2 sets of skis. A powder and a Touring ski.
