Thanks. We're getting very close. It's been a long road only having one evening a week to work on it. Next hurdle? Cores.

The PID was intimidating at first, but pretty straight forward after a little basic understanding of the features.

No welds at this point, just bolts. KT, the brains behind the steel says they'll hold. I'm sure if we find the distance between the top and bottom are good, we might make it permanent. Next week we'll crank it up to 70 PSI.

db,

How much was the steel for this press? What are the dimensions of the beam?

After having my 2nd ski get ruined due to a faulty vacuum pump, I'm looking into some other options.....

Good question. We split up the activities. I've been handling the electronics and the wood and my bud KT (as seen in the pictures) is a welder and dealt with the steel. My guess would be around $450.

Craigslist is a good place to look. I found some on there after we had started.

WOW! The details you included in the press are realy nice. I like how mobile your press is too. If you want to use any tools for profiling let me know. I have a vacume table and router and a few bits. I look forward to seeing your finished skis and shop set up.

This press is made of W6X15, with 3/8" X 5" flat bar in between to make the wide platform. As you can see the wide flang has 3" standard channel welded from web to web @ 16" centers. The ends are capped with 1/4" X 6" flat bar with continuous weld, also the corners have 3/8" X 3" flat bar welded in to hold the adjustable vertical supports. (after we got the "throat" at the dimession that worked i also welded that. So.. the press has been to triple digits and only deflected .080.
