Wood Veneer Suppliers

Post by Tree-dar »

Anyone have good experience with a wood veneer supplier? Also, recommendations on thickness?

I've bought from Veneer supplies (http://www.veneersupplies.com/) and they have been good.

I just get whatever thickness they have. I don't think it makes too much of a difference.

we have started offering custom Hardwood face veneer for longboards. Custom stringer layups are achieved just like making core blocks but we can slice them as thin as 1/16" There are some pics on our myspace page if you're interested. Wednesday Skateboards.
You can also try Summit Hardwoods in Cali, ask for Brad.

Odin,
Those custom veneer stringers are beautiful. Are you cutting those off a block with a bandsaw?
How thick are the maple veneers that skateboard manufacturers use? I remember seeing a 5 ply (flexy) early Caballero board by Powell when I was a kid. Can you order these thicker maple veneers in a size appropriate for a ski's topsheet (7"X84")?
