It is my first pair a ski.

The woodcore is executed from basswood and the central insert from birch plywood for giving the greater rigidity.

As it is my the first hand made a ski I did their houses. Wanted to supervise process completely. And plus at us in Russia now frosts, it would would be desirable that resin hardened at normal temperature for it)))











I used vacuum press

on one picture it looks like the vacuum couldn`t fully press the tips/tails into the mold. did you have any problems with that? maybe i`d use a larger radius for tip and tails for the next pair...it seems quite narrow!

Problems because of radius didn`t occur. It simply started process
But probably the following mold will be with the big radius.

Skilifts are but work it only in the winter. You will arrive in the summer... It`s good))) I too like roadtrip.
Come the next winter to go for a drive))))) a lot of snow in February and in May on freeride passes the championship))))))

i use a pneumatic press. there are advantages and disadvantages of it.
if you`re fine with vacuum i would keep using vacuum for the beginning. with vacuum it`s easier to change the mold and play around with different sorts of camber and tip/tail radius etc. i just use a pneumatic pressure because i don`t trust my vacuum pump. but i don`t use a much higher pressure for pressing skis as a vacuum pump can build up.

ah, i just did a little search - so you are skiing in kivorsk? looks pretty nice! so how much snow do you get in winter?

In a vacuum press there are two minuses - the limited pressure and leakings of air are possible - demands the control. So it seems to me. Pluss - simplicity of manufacturing

yes, air leakings are a problem, but i was also afraid my vacuum pump would collapse.
1.8kg per ski? this would be quite good for your dimensions

I know this is an old post but...... Did you get a chance to ski on them this winter? How were they? The profile looked pretty cool. Were the skis stiff? I watched the video clip of the construction. Also saw some other clips by Murchonn. Was that you and your buddies skiing on grass?! That's hard core!
