New Press: New questions

Hey Everyone,

I am a life long skier and I absolutely love it. I have seen guys building their own skis for a while now and I decided it is time I try it for myself. I know some may think this is a stupid question, but it pertains to the construction of the press.

I noticed that most guys are using I-Beams or square tubing. Is it safe to use rectangular tubing for the cross beams. I have a better deal on it, and it would be easier for me to work with.

Thanks,

I used rectangular tube. It's stronger than square tube if oriented correctly. The wide side should be vertical to help reduce deflection.

its good.. even in race cars we use rectangular tubing for chassis jigs because it distorts less than square
