RIP Shane McConkey

so sad...i'm sure everyone has heard of the news by now, but I just want to pay respect to Shane on my and Skibuilders.com's behalf. I know many of us wouldn't be building the kind of skis we do if it weren't for Shane and his Spats.

Skiing has truly lost one of its greatest legends. It's a rarity that someone comes along and can touch so many lives without ever knowing them. With Shane it felt like he was everyone's friend and I feel honored to have been in his presence a handful of times at Squaw.

I've been speechless all day and really can't find any more words to say.

You will be missed Shane.

He was one of few people that became a true legend while alive,
for shape-geeks like my self he is closer to a god.

I had hoped to meet him once, during one of his trips up here (ski basing), but it never happened.

I will be thinking about that for a wile.

This man was one of the most amazing individuals on the planet. He revolutionized the sport and took it to levels others only dreamed about. I'll never forget the first time I saw him on video. I couldn't actually believe my eyes.

If it wasn't for him do you think we would be rocking water skis on snow? I doubt it.
What a shame.
