Discovery Channel -- how to make skis

I don't know if that has been posted, so sorry for repeating this, but it's cool. A friend sent me the link:

Some observations:
1. the core is finger jointed, in the middle!
2. notice the knots in the wood -- project pallet, anyone?
3. what a slick core-profiler -- I think I want to build one!
4. wow, what a nice clam-shell style press and mold. I've seen one before, but seeing it again still makes me drool.
5. I'm intrigued by the layers in the layup process!
