Here's the third set of skis.

Info:
168cm, 110-68-96

Layup:
2001 Clear base
ski builders edges
vds
20oz triax
cedar core
20oz triax
.02" veneer

The camber on these skis was MUCH better than my first time around. I have to thank those that mentioned using a planed-profile for the camber, rather than the shim method of the last pair. The small black dots seen in the camber picture are old nail-holes from when the core was a board on my summer deck.

I named the skis after the veneer type (Makore). It's the quilted variation from certainly wood. http://www.certainlywood.com/detail.cfm?ID=2865 . I didn't have to stain or add any color, and definitely worth the price.

Wow, nice veneer. I like the idea of re-using the decking too. Let us know how they ski. Great work!

I'll try to remember to add a ski report, but it's going to be a while. The snow is completely gone here in Minnesota already, and my wife (who I made the skis for) is still pregnant, which means I won't be heading out west for a ski trip this spring :(
