Helicoil? Not familiar with that term.

So the ski shop told us the helicoils would fail in the balsa. What do you guys think about drilling a larger hole for each binding screw filling it with epoxy and a helicoil and then covering that with a sheet metal and mounting bindings on top? This in theory would allow the screw to get a better bite into the sheet metal and the sheet metal would help hold down the inserts.

drill all the way through the ski and countersink tnuts with base material attached. I think tognar or svst has them. they are for snowboards but they make a 13mm for skis.
