new idea to heat your press

Post by ProbsMagobs »

since my recent project fell through ive only really had ideas i cant test. My idea is using water to heat your press which can only really work with a vacuum press since its water proof. my idea is building a large enough tub(mdf with plastic sheeting to waterproof) to hold your mold and vacuum bag. It would reuse the water through a pump making it constantly drain and fill. somewhere along the line it would have some sort of heater. since cold water is heavier it would leave first making a pretty constant hot temperature. it should look something like this

id like to get some feedback on this

I think you're crazy :)

Put some heat lamps over it.

If your bag sprung a tiny leak you are SO screwed.

Water always finds a way. Its very hard to control and destructive and unpredictable especialy when conbined with human error.

I like that your thinking outside the box ( no pun intended). I think it would be cheaper to get a heat mat and controller, and a lot safer.

Line started with a water heated - and assume cooled press. It's on their website.

A vacuum press in a tub of water? It only takes a pin hole air leak in the press before it starts sucking in water.

How about using a hydronic system. I did one in the house I built.

It's easy and the pex tubing is rated for 180F @ 100psi.

Maybe you could heat the form???

what kind of resin system are you using? if you use something like west systems epoxy, you dont need any heat, just a comfortable 70 degree room temperature will do.

sounds like a lot of work for not a huge payout, and super risky.
