I've been doing some research on different types of hardwood and I've found some cool references on the properties and uses of various hardwoods. I'm specifically interested in stuff like what woods are best for screw retention, elasticity, stiffness (maple/ash/birch/beech/hickory) and workability as well as what might be best to use in non-critical areas of the core such as the lateral stringers that are outside of the binding mount area that basically get shaped down so the sidewalls can be attached. I wold be nice to have a wood that is still somewhat hard but is easily worked into shape. For me poplar is a good choice for this

I though this was some cool info on the various woods we all use and might help with selection of wood for cores.

The nice thing is many of these hardwoods as available locally for me. I'm going to try to source all of my wood locally for he next building season.
