Inside Foam Core Skis

Post by falls »

Hi Everyone
I cut open a pair of old skis recently to see what was inside.
A bit boring - looks like foam infused.
Anyway if anyone is interested here are a few pictures.
They are stiff as anything and narrow and straight. Someone gave them to me thinking I might use them!

LOL.
Looks like foam and some AL to stiffen the ski. No sidewall re-enforcement either.

I think those upper and lower layers look more like fibreglass than aluminium.
It is a cap construction, but the foam is actually exposed to the outside just above the edge so must be pretty impervious.
