Bonding ABS and/or Polycarbonate

Post by bushwood69 »

I was browsing around and found this stuff. Dries clear, decent temperature range, supposedly good bond strength when bonding low energy plastics to each other or a substrate...

I haven't had a chance to do any research on it though...

Don't know this stuff, it does not say it bonds polyethyleen.

Check http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=342
or use the search function of the forum and look for flame treatment or dyne level for more info on this topic

You are correct that it does not indicate that it can be used with polyethylene. I was thinking of using it for ABS on the side walls, and possibly polycarbonate for the top sheet as it is flexible, relatively durable, and clear.

I'd still want to use epoxy for the base (UHMW-PE).

Most of all I was trying to find an alternative to flame treating ABS as it is a somewhat inexact procedure without expensive equipment.

Will do. I have just started gathering materials to do some testing and was curious if anyone else had tried some of my ideas to save some time and money...
