Got the ski's back from the ski shop.

They said the base bubbled a bit so they ground only as much as they dared to;

Pretty good tho:

Image

The base is a little bit concave at the tip and tail rise thats why they're still white (epoxy)

Image

The pics are crap but you can see a little bubble near the tail on this one:

there is another little one on the other ski and one near the tip. i should probably epoxy these bubbles again.

only two things left, bevel the sidewall and mount the bindings

Im going to set my pid to on/off mode anyway. Variable duty cycle control of a relay is a waste of time, a relay is just an on/off so having your pid trying to bring it on at a controlled rate seems a waste to me. An ssr can switch pretty quick so I have set my variance to only 2 degrees. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
I take all this back, I set up one blanket with the PID just turning on and off, measuring every 1 second, and I set the other blanket up to auto-tune the full PID settings, well what a difference, the on/off set up would fluctuate 2-3 degrees Celsius either way (5-6 degrees total) while the PID running blanket was within 0.3 degrees (0.6 degrees total)

Just tested my skis @ Thredbo this weekend.

Unfortunately I am way to unfit to take advantage of the new skis, I think they are harder to work than my old skis but I can't judge them until I am able to ski down a run without dying...

I got the bindings mounted at a ski shop and when the guy asked me where i wanted the bindings mounted I said "dead centre". he told me that no skis have bindings mounted dead centre and convinced me to mount them 5mm back of dead centre.

however, the waist is dead centre, i'm wondering if the boot centre needs to be at the waist (which should be 5-10mm rear of dead centre) and if that had something to do with the skis being harder to work

other than that when i beveled the sidewall i cut into the edge on several occasions (unintentionally) plus i havent given the edge a bevel (on the bottom)

Happy to hear feedback/abuse.

Best to at least have ball of foot, center of sidecut. its about 5cm behind dead center for most feet. Good spot to start. Stiff skis can be tough if your not in Shape.

That Onsie is outstanding!
Was at Falls for the weekend and it was also pretty great. Tree runs in June when we had grass a week before... pretty great indeed!
SNOWZILLA is welcome back whenever she wants.

yeah, i really should have got the edges tuned, i was in a bit of a rush for time getting them ready for the weekend because it was only Thursday that i decided to go down.

I love onesies, plus i seem to be the only person on the mountain in one. it is surprising how many people stare at me..

this is the new onesie i bought over christmas:

my boots and my strength/fitness was to blame not my skis,

they worked out perfectly (although i'm breaking in new boots which is painful)

also ran into climberman (i think thats what he said he was), he must have noticed me being the only one in an adidas tracksuit on the mountain.
