Thanks sammer - I give it a try. I think I'll try to find a silicone sheet as well.

Here's another source maybe

I'll try to call diversified silicone tomorrow and see what they have to say. Think you tried them already but maybe something will work out. Those quotes seem like a lot - wonder if troublemaker ever figured out a way to do a silicone blanket by spraying it ??

Thanks pmg - they're out of the translucent right now but this is doable price wise for me if the shipping isn't crazy.

There is an aliexpress supplier with free shipping, do you think this one can be used?

Seems much cheaper then getting one in EU.

If you dont need to go high temp, maybe try this one:

http://shop1.r-g.de/item/390176

Its quite cheap, goes up to 145 degrees and is good stretchable. Till now im happy with it.

Maybe its not as elastic as silicone, you have to compare.

175 cm wide roll/ 5 m length, up to 145degrees, releasable for Euro 38,- ... Elongation break 1000%

If youre in EU i would give it a try ;)

Did 2 skis with this material, worked quite well. 26Hg Vacuum, pump started every 20-40 minutes, so it seals good. Not with a frame, but with sticky tape.

Ok, but if im not wrong you need different specs for these 2 applications:

Pressing: very flexible, just up to 80 degreeds

Sublim: not so flexible (mostly just flat) but up to 1xx degrees

Do i miss something or do you want to make one for both? ;)

Im not sure, you might be right. As I understood it, with silicone and elongation up to 600-700% it should be ok with both.

I have not asked OAC yet how exactly he does sublim, just seen his video on the pressing of skis.

For me, when I see it work for the skis, the sublim is much more simpler shape like you say, should be more easy

I plan just to use it for sublim to begin with

chrismp should have all the creds regarding the sublimation. ;)

I used all my fuel on the ski pressing part.
I don't think anything other than silicone would do for complex shapes. Although a ski shape isn't that complex in itself but in terms of vacuum pressing it is.
If you just use silicone sheet for sublimation and under 200°C and no resin involved, it will last forever!

Has anyone found a good place to get silicone? Ive been searching for about 2 weeks now and havent found anything.
I called rubbercal.com and asked how their product was with vacuum pressing and the answer I got was it is good for heat so no help there.

Called diversified and found out it would cost $636 for a piece 9 feet long, seems a bit outrageous. Contacted Joe at joewoodworker and checked to see if he had any thing that could be used cover the shape of a ski mold he said no.

Talked to fiberglass supply and they said that the Stretchlon isnt the best to be re used over and over.

The last place I have checked was alibaba but that just seems like a giant headache dealing with a random factory in china, and very sketchy.

So any help here would be greatly appreciated.
