Dear forum users,
I have a question concerning sidewalls plastic.
I have used regular ABS plastic for this purpose.
The thing is that, when I cut it with jig saw it begins to melt. Only circular saw can cut it properly.
But after press I use jigsaw anyway.
So, the question is next. Is it better to use UHMWPE plastic?
If so is it enough to use regular UHMWPE of p-tex one?

slow your jigsaw down and maybe use some water to keep things cooled off? less TPI on the jigsaw blade? I've never used ABS.

Uhmw will be easier to repair on the fact it does not shatter. Sometimes some abs is very brttile at low temps.
I think a larger toothe jigsaw blade would help to cut and not melt. Go big.

It means that ABS plastic is the same, the only problem is the tool.
Okay, it is clear.
So what about UHMWPE. Is it possible to use regular one which purpose is not direct use for ski or snowboard industry? (there are a lot of talks about p-tex).
there is some kind of PE UHMW (PE 1000) have somebody heard about this stuff?

Ptex is a branding name for the sintered uhmwpe base.
Uhmwpe is all very similar.
The stuff crown and isosport make is ram molded and has a special resin. Makes it a bit harder and stiffer than reg uhmwpe.
Reg uhmwpe is fine for sidewall.

thank you, I will try to work with UHMWPE.

But still each UHMWPE has its own molecular weight. The task is to find golden middle between rigid and to soft one.
