Sublimation on veneer

Hello,
has anybody tried to sublimate on veneer? With or without coating.
The guys from sublimation companies say that it is virtually impossible to sublimate without polymer coat.
I did some test with veneer, but without any polymers applied.
I do not know what the result has to be but it is less bright then on plastic.
Here is the video how longboard guys do the sublimation.

Apart from the crack, it looks pretty acceptable.
I suppose more Pop wouldn't be bad, but I think it looks OK

The reason why crack appeared was moisture in veneer.
What do you mean by pop?

Also I would like to try spray polymer or regular polymer. I guess picture will be more realistic and if will be easier to process it.

Akiwi, I do agree with you, unfortunately it is difficult to achieve such result without coating...
It has to be really high temperature))

If you double print, or lay down more ink on your transfer paper you can achieve brighter colors.

However unless you have a RIP you will have a tough time achieving that as you actually need to be able to control the printer beyond what most printers allow out of the box.

Add more inks is good idea and we did it.
Double print sounds like step two times in one water, newer possible to coincide the picture.
