Hello,

I wanted to try balsa cores for long. This winter I finally made it. So far it seems to be a big success, as the ski is very light and skis well.

Some Data:
175cm
119-83-106
1990g/Pair (of course the skis only, without binding)
Sidewalls (2.5mm thick)
Real ski end
Hollow Tip to save weight
Core Thickness: 2.8mm - 13.8mm - 2.8mm

Setup:
0.5mm Mahagoni? (not sure, got it from a friend) veneer
170g/m2 Uni Carbon/Flax (bcomp Amplitex)
140g/m2 biax Carbon (+-45°)
Balsa Core
170g/m2 Uni Carbon/Flax (bcomp Amplitex)
140g/m2 biax Carbon (+-45°)
VDS, Base and Edges

So far, I am pretty satisfied with how the ski works. Uphill is a dream of course, But also Downhill performance is better than with the last touring ski I made, its definitely stiff enough for a touring ski.

Here are 2 pictures taken with my mobile, better pictures will follow:

Hi,

finally some more pics. After the 6th day on snow I am very very happy with these skis. Balsa cores really ski well. And flax/carbon is great, anyone who skied that combination will agree I guess.

p.s.: I really love the look of the white sidewalls. I take the trouble of cutting normal sidewall ABS in half, but its definitely worth the extra work.

Well, we will see how good they hold up with that layup. So far they only made about 5000 vertical meters but already took some hard riding and bending. So far, everything is fine.
