types of fibreglass

Post by SCHÜSS »

no doubt this has been covered already. i just couldnt find it.

ok so there is:

plain weave
twill weave
mat (chopped strands)
biaxial
triaxial
and some thing called crowfoot?????

plain is just 1x1 up and down
twill is 2x2
mat just goes everywhere
biaxial is +45/-45
triaxial is 0/+45/-45

is this right?

What would the difference between say plain weave and triaxil weave? in terms of flex and torsional rigidy... assuming they are both say 12oz

cheers.

Sorry SCHUSS, not enough time to respond in depth at the the moment, but, in addition to the common E-glass, there's also:

S-glass
S2-glass
H-glass...
