Site Slammed

Post by dante »

I am having difficulty opening the site. It seems to be down or I have a problem on my end. Anyone else getting this?
I've noticed it gets slammed from about 9 to 11 (PDT) during weekdays and the server has trouble keeping up. The site is still there but you may have to try coming back a little later to get through.

I discovered something for us linux and mac users - Crossover

It lets you run 'doze apps on your machine in such a simple way its idiot-proof. I've got QuickBooks running on linux, along with the needed IE6 (yuk!)

This software should run ok on it - I'll test it later this week.

Reasonable cost too.. $40

Thanks for checking that out! :D

It’s good to hear that it works using crossover. Hopefully it works with the Mac version too.

If someone has a Mac and is willing to buy Crossover and post whether or not it works I’d be happy to shoot you a key for your trouble. PM me if you’re interested.

Dang! Crossover will not work on PowerPC processor based G3's, 4's, or 5's (got 2 of those). It only works with Intel CPU based Mac. Now I'm off to see if I can swipe my wife's laptop... let's see... what tempting trade do I have to offer?

Double Dang!! The laptop is PowerPC based, also. So, we have 3 different Macs, purchased over the last 3 years, and Crossover won't work on any of them. It makes me wonder what Macs do have Intel processors in them. Oh, well.
