Adjustable Top Mold

Post by dbtahoe »

Quick question as we begin to build our mold. For the bottom we are making it adjustable like many people are now doing by sliding the tip/tale shapes along the radius curve and the spacer in between.

But how are people setting up the top?

It looks like people are using straight 2x4 boards. Do you create a staggerd finger joint? If so would you stick the gaps on the ends or the middle? Do you need to add something to stop the firehose from going into those gaps?

Thanks for you expertise,
Doug

Doug,
My top mold is just as you described. The sliding joint is in the center. I have no problem with the hose and the joints. If you are concerned you can use a piece of plywood inbetween the two. My top mold is 2x4 on end so the space is only 1 1/2".
Where about in tahoe are you?
