I used some red cotton fabric from the fabric store to make my skis red, then used some graphics printed on paper to spice it up...I even put a small picture (printed on photo paper) in the middle of my tail. I just tested out a pair with cotton directly under the topsheet, and they held up well. The cotton seems to wet out quite well which probably helps.

I found reference in other threads to a German company called Haberkorn.

I just talked to them, and they have a minimum order of around 1000m for about $0.50/m (1" strip). It's a great price, but too much rubber for me to use. Would anyone be interested in a group buy?

Does anyone know what exactly VDS rubber is?

I'm trying to find a local supplier of it, but it's tough when I can't tell them what I'm looking for.
