I understand that people might be leery of the sharp rise for the rocker, but I'm actually pretty intrigued by it. In certain situations, I feel that it might work out pretty well. Im not totally sure why; I just imagine skiing them and have this feeling that they would be really fun. I think I will...

well... I'm not terribly experienced, and there have been skibuilder 'studies' that have suggested core material has little to do with physical characteristics. My time on skis and my feeling, however, is that it has a pretty big impact. I plan on doing a number of tests and experiments to quantify,...

ya. the best i can think of is to get a shippin address in the US, then drive the stuff over the border yourself. this is what i do, but Im not sure how close you are to the border. I can get there in like 45 mins. it will be coming from out of the country one way or the other, though; no one makes ...

camhard's ski building
So, I've finally decided to start a journal. Wasn't planning on doing it until I had a really solid product complete, but hopefully this will force me to keep moving in order to maintain interest and a position at the top of the thread list. haha. I also think that this should come together fairly s...

nowhere that I know of. it's a pain. where abouts do you live. you could try contacting a local(ish) ski/snowboard producer. fibreglass and some resin is available here. so is wood. pretty much everything except the base and edges. you should be able to find a plastic supplier for the sidewalls, but...

good good. ya, it must be custom, I just mean I've never heard of anything being rated so high. I haven't looked into the material for a while and kinda forget what I'm talking about, but would be interested to see if it really is 5500 series... must be bombproof and fast as hell if it really is. ex...

touché. I dunno. I guess we just define the terms ourselves, maybe. ill continue to use them as I've described them above, as this makes sense to me. I guess there is no definite definition... though there should be. either that, or never summer is just crazy and likes using new terms to market thei...

^ park skis are generally stiffer (for pipe and big air). they have only recently become softer due to changing styles and people wanting more of a 'play' ski. As far as the amount of composite, I would agree that less is preferable, but yes, you do just need to try some things out. so as far as im ...

You're wrong.... where sidecut or effective edge end have nothing to do with it. There has been a lot of debate regarding this all over the place, and I think I understand it, but it's entirely possible that I'm also misinformed, though my view makes sense to me. The first clarification: it is impor...

rockered and reverse camber?? interesting. just kidding; they are two slightly different things. it's pretty confusing though i guess as so many people think they mean different things. Im guessing it would make them a lot less enjoyable. even though they will only be used in powder, you still need ...

thanks for the replies. I positive that I am using the correct type of force here (Im pretty sure the sheer is generally about 60% or so of tensile anyways). I am just finding it more difficult to find grade 8 bolts. im sure if i put some effort in i could find some though. i also thought they were ...
